I am a native of Malabon but now living overseas. I just discovered your blog by accident and I must say that it is very informative. The old pictures are awesome! Keep them coming!
My brother from the US shared this blog to us. This is outstanding work Ms. Cecil. I was excited to show it to my children because these are the memories and things I grew up with in the period 5 to 3 decades ago and which I am fond of telling them.
It is Christmas time and I remember the "panunuluyan" used to be held during Christmas eve in our barrio in Ibaba by us Aglipayans. It was a re-enactment of the plea for lodging by Joseph and Mary to several households. Actors play the roles by singing and acting the ritual. It would be good if Ms. Cecil could research and probably add some stories and pictures here in the blog about it. Regards and God bless.
This is the first time I'm hearing about the "panunuluyan." I wonder if it's still being done. My Lola was also Aglipayan but she wasn't active so we did not learn much about its rituals. In fact I learned about the caracol only last year when I started this blog. I certainly hope that I'll get to learn and share more about the different customs and rituals in our hometown.

Thanks, Ariel! I'm happy to be doing this blog. I love looking at old pictures of our hometown, too.
